Respond to a prompt using the CEL paragraph Homework: Read pages #1- 17 of ASWR and prepare to discuss it in class and write about it in class

Affirmative Action • Define it: policies that aim to increase African-Americans, women, and other minorities in jobs and schools. • Purpose: a program designed to counter discrimination against minority groups and women in areas such as employment and education. • Benefits: it is the only way to overcome the effects of past discrimination and promote integration. • Negatives: it as “reverse discrimination,” denying opportunities to qualified whites and men.
