Why change? • Reduced headcount in Field Engineering organisation since April 2011 • Originally +2,600 people and viewed as too big for one person to manage • NWOW efficiencies • Creation of Plan & Build organisation with transfer of c. 530 people • RBL input to OD review identified the following issues with the current structure; • Duplication and waste between the North & South • Constant tactical demands on the RBL’s time • FLMs struggling to get the job done • Inconsistent use of CDM role across the organisation • Lack of career path within the Field management structure to develop and retain talent
