  2. Unit 3 - Who’s at the Movies? • Work to be completed for submission: • 1.1. Introduction • ‘Create a blog post that describes how Producers classify different audience types’ • Details on how films are split by ‘Genre’ • Details about ‘Age certification’ • Details about Producers identify audience types and characteristics (Age, Gender, Interests, etc.) • Link to any secondary online research (Include relevant links in your work) • 1.2. ‘Questionnaire’ – Document design & graphs – Results & Write up. • Include: • The questionnaire designed by your group. • Graphs and a write up that demonstrate your findings. • Details of your results (Any trends identified from general public) • Any online secondary research conducted. ( Are any trends identified also seen in this research? Is it a trend nationally as well as locally?)

Unit 3 - Who’s at the Movies? • Work to be completed for submission: • 2.1 Movie Trailer Analysis • ‘Pick from a selection of movie trailers and describe how they have been designed to appeal to a specific audience type’ • Describe: • The use of any Semiotics (images or sounds) • Descriptions of the narrative style and pace used. • Descriptions about use of sound and SFX • Notes on any other noticeable cinematic traits in its design. • Descriptions of the audience type its is designed for • The methods it uses to achieve this. • 2.2. Movie Poster Analysis • ‘Pick from a selection of movie posters and describe how they have been designed to appeal to a specific audience type’ • What is the layout and style used? Why does this suit the film style / genre? • What is the text font used? Why does this suit the film style / genre? • Who is the target audience? How does it engage them? • Any names of stars or the director? Why is this important? • Main image / Background? Why is it used? • Is there a ‘Strap line’ /secondary text? What does this communicate to the audience?

Create a Movie Poster • ‘Create a poster design for a movie to help promote it to a specified audience’ • Describe your planned approach to your design. • Describe how your own research into posters influenced your design. • Did you decide to use any techniques or styles researched into your design? • Has your own questionnaire research influenced your design? • Who are the target audience for your poster? • Why do you think it will engage them? • 4. Create a Movie Trailer • ‘Individually, use Adobe Premiere to produce an edit of your movie trailer targeted at an identified audience type.’ • Describe your planned approach to your Movie trailer. • Describe how your own research into Movie Trailers has influenced your design. • Has your own questionnaire research influenced your design plan? • Who are the target audience for your Movie Trailer? • Why do you think it will engage them? (use of logos, imagery, semiotics, sound, SFX, pace of editing , etc.)

Did it work well in practice with the general public? • How did your research and questionnaire effect the development of your own edit/design ideas in production? • Describe your poster production. What went well/Was difficult? What would you change if you could do it again? • Describe your film movie trailer. What went well/Was difficult? What would you change if you could do it again? • Describe your finished project overall. Are you happy with your poster edit and trailer design? • Do you think it achieves its aim of engaging its target audience?Why?
