  2. Program Review 2009-2010 • Program Review Consisted of Two Parts: • Program Review Updates • Comprehensive Program Review

  3. Program Review Update • Total of 66 programs completed • 22 approved immediately • 37 by second deadline • 7 by final deadline All programs participating in Program Review Update are forwarded to GAP with recommendation to participate in the CBAC process.

  4. Comprehensive Program Review • Beta tested a new process for 1st round review • Established Program Review Evaluation Committee consisting of members of Academic Senate, Classified Senate, President’s Council, CBAC, Associated Students, and Student Services Council. • Criteria established • Goals measurable and in relation to college/district goals; reaction to external or internal forces such as enrollment trends & students served.

  5. First-Round Review Results • Exceeds planning expectations • No programs in Fall 2009 • Meets planning expectations • Sociology • Anthropology • Needs further evaluation by GAP • Tech Studies • Work Experience

Identified Issues • What is the definition of a program? • Are Global Studies and Social Science programs? • What happens if a program does not complete Program Review? • Consistent terminology needs to be used across PGC, CBAC, Student Services Council, etc. • In 2010-2011 break apart “bundles” such as Health Occ & Tech Studies • Is Foreign Language a “bundle” or not? • Continue to refine the Program Review process to create a robust, comprehensive planning cycle which ties together curriculum, SLOs, program life-cycle, and resource allocation.

  7. Next Steps • Spring 2010 the committee will work on simplifying forms used for Comprehensive Program Review. • Beta test form in Spring-Summer • Fall 2010 use the same criteria and Program Review Evaluation Committee to perform first-round review.
