  1. Vocab Project By: Kaitlin O’Connell & Lindsay Griesmer

  2. Abstruse The definition of abstruse is being difficult to understand or comprehend. This picture demonstrates abstruse because math problems are difficult for me to understand. Lindsay Griesmer

  3. Absurd Absurd means wildly unreasonable, illogical, or inappropriate. This picture shows this because it would be illogical for a student to be proud of failing a test in school. Lindsay Griesmer

  4. Bedlam The definition of bedlam is a scene of uproar and confusion. While trying to take a picture of my Dad, he was constantly moving and trying to get me to move out of the way of his TV show. Trying to take his picture caused my Dad to become confused and get mad at me. Lindsay Griesmer

  5. Belie Belie means to disguise or contradict. When I think of contradictions, I automatically remember the startbursts commercials because their slogan is a juicy contradiction. This picture shows this phrase and over contradictions such as jumbo shrimp, and a towering midget. Lindsay Griesmer

  6. Cacophony Cacophony means a harsh mixture of sounds. This picture demonstrates this definition because if musical notes are not placed in the correct order, then a melody that is not appealing to the ears will be formed. Lindsay Griesmer

  7. Callous Callous means showing a disregard to others. This picture shows this because my Dad was using four blankets, controlling the TV, and was not being cooperative in helping me take pictures. Thus, showing a disregard to others. Lindsay Griesmer

  8. Debilitate Debilitate is defined as hindering or delaying something. A road block is the perfect example of delaying a person from getting to their destination. Lindsay Griesmer

  9. Debutante Debutante can be defined as a woman who is being introduced into society for the first time. My example shows a girl being excited to finally be introduced into society. Lindsay Griesmer

  10. Decorum Decorum means having manners that keep with good taste. This photo is an example of showing decorum because the polite thing to do when someone has food stuck in their teeth is to tell them in a private place, making sure not to embarrass them. Lindsay Griesmer

  11. Edifice Edifice is a large, imposing building. Unfortunately, I do not have any imposing buildings near by so I decided to draw a large building as my example.

  12. Eclectic I chose this image because it shows a variety of choices with different patterns. This is eclectic because one has many sources to chose from a diverse selection of shorts. Kaitlin O’Connell

  13. Fabricate I chose this image because it portrays the skill or labor used to construct a bench in this case. This is picture is the definition of fabricate because my Dad is in the process of making many things, for the winter. Kaitlin O’Connell

  14. Gamut I chose this image because it portrays the entire range or scale of music. It shows the notes for songs that I play on guitar. Kaitlin O’Connell

  15. Hamper I chose this image because it represents the laundry basket holding the dirty towels that my household has already used. Kaitlin O’Connell

  16. Iconoclast I chose this image because matches make me think of the devil. The devil represents a person who attacks cherished beliefs. Kaitlin O’Connell

  17. Ignominious I chose this image because my parents think its shameful to have a dirty room. I always have to pick up the clothes on the floor because they accumulate to a point where it just needs to be done. Kaitlin O’Connell

  18. Labyrinth I chose this image because this represents a passage through our garden where we collect our vegetables. Kaitlin O’Connell

  19. Magnanimous I chose this image because God is forgiving and almighty just like a magnanimous person is. Kaitlin O’Connell

  20. Nadir I chose this image because the picture is at a downward angle representing the last step as the lowest point just like a nadir. Kaitlin O’Connell

  21. Obliterate I chose this image because fire represents something that can destroy another completely. It can be used as an instrument of violence, in war or used to burn wood which removes it completely. Kaitlin O’Connell
