  1. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Things that are temporary

  2. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

  3. (1) THE LAWOF MOSES • Matthew 5:17-18 • 17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. • Romans 7:6 • 6But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. • See also Gal. 3:11; 4:21-31; 6:2; Heb. 7:12; John 12:48

  4. (2) THE APOSTLES • Acts 1:21-22 • 21Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection. • 1 Corinthians 15:8 • 8And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

  5. (3) THE REIGNOF CHRIST • Revelation 17:14 • 14These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. • 1 Corinthians 15:23-26 • 23But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. 24Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

  6. (4) THE HADEAN REALM • Revelation 20:12-15 • 12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. • See also John 20:17; Luke 16:19-31; 23:43; 2 Peter 2:4

  7. (5) YOUR LIFEON EARTH • Psalm 89:47-48 • 47Remember how short my time is: wherefore hast thou made all men in vain? 48What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? (cf. Job 14:1) • Psalm 90:9-10 • 9For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. 10The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. • Ecclesiastes 9:5 • 5For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. (cf. Jas. 4:13-14; Heb. 9:27)

  8. (6) SPIRITUAL GIFTS • 1 Corinthians 13:8-10 • 8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. • 1 Corinthians 13:11 • 11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

  9. (7) THE EARTH • 2 Peter 3:10 • 10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. • Mark 13:32 • 32But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
