  2. Ro Water Vs Distilled Water To compare the two types of water, it is a must to understand what each of the filters are.

  3. RO Water: -Ro filter uses the Ro membrane to filter out chemicals such as arsenic, nitrates, soduim, copper, and lead. – Ro water have a pH level of 5 to 6.5 – Ro filter uses the osmosis method to build pressure when creating purified water. Distilled Water: -Distilled water uses a filters that evaporates steam to create pure water. -Removes inorganic compounds such as metals, nitrates, hardness and kills microorganisms. -pH level is usually a range from 4 to 6.5 in distilled water. Cons of Ro Water: – In home set ups can be expensive – This system has a large amount of water waste compared to other purification methods – Many of the filters and membrane must be replaced after several uses. This can also be costly. – Ro filters do not remove gases naturally found in water which can caused the water’s ph to be lower -Although the Ro filter does remove traces of minerals, many ro machine have a unit specifically to restore the beneficial minerals back into the water. Cons of Distilled Water: – The method of using an evaporation system to filtered water uses high energy therefore making it extremely costly. -It is a large and very difficult machine to set up. – Distilled water extracts all contaminants from the water when it is purified. This includes beneficial minerals that the body needs. About 99% of all dissolved minerals is removed. – Because the water has no minerals this can have a negative effect on the body such as dizziness, fatigue, muscle cramps, and dehydration. So when comparing the two filters, you can see that they are quite similar and the only difference is the type of filterations. The filterations is an important factor because it creates the quality drinking water. RO filter is by far less expensive and less energy consumed. Many people prefer the RO method for its varying units it can integrate into. For example you can add a carbon filter and that will eliminate the excess gases which can lower the ph of RO water. Or a buffer can be added into the unit to filter back the missing minerals into the water.
