A Royal Priesthood • 1 Peter 2:9 uses terms that referred to Israel • Exodus 19:5-6 a special treasure…a kingdom of priests…a holy nation • 1 Peter 2:5 refers to a holy priesthood in the spiritual house to offer spiritual sacrifices • Priests had three main responsibilities: • Offer sacrifices Num. 16:41-50, Heb. 5:1-2 • Intercede for the people Heb. 7:25, 1 Sam. 12:23 • Teach people God’s law 1 Sam. 12:23, Hosea 4:6
