  1. Shyness activity and quiz Here are the post-reading activities. Teachers, please read these BEFORE beginning the activity.

  2. Introducing yourself to a group • Break the class into groups of two students and have each student introduce him/herself to the other student as follows: • Choose one student in each group to start.  • Have that student introduce him/herself to everyone else in the group as follows:  • Say "Hi, my name is _____," extend your hand to the person and shake hands.  • The person will respond, “ Hi, I'm ______."

  3. Introducing others • After introducing yourself to your partner, make a larger group of six by combining with three other groups of partners. • Your job is to introduce your partner to the rest of the group. • Example: Megan and Zack are partners. Megan and Zack join two other groups of partners. Now, Megan is going to introduce Zack to someone in the group. • Megan will say, “Zack, I'd like you to meet Tyler."Megan points to Tyler. • Zack and Tyler shake hands. • Tyler says "Nice to meet you, Tyler." • Then Zack responds, “Nice to meet you, too.” • The introduction process is then repeated until each person in each group has introduced his/her partner and he/she has also been introduced to everyone in the group. Remember to follow the pattern for a courteous introduction. Everyone should be introduced to everyone. 
