  1. Alma 41 Wickedness Never Was Happiness

  2. Consider how a person’s actions might be influenced if they believe the following three statements: • There is no life after death. • After we die, we will be saved regardless of our works on earth. • At Judgment, we will be rewarded for our good deeds and punished for our bad deeds. Why is it important to have a correct understanding of what will happen to us after we die? (see Alma 41:1)

  3. Alma 41 Search Alma 41:2–5 looking for the things that will be physically and spiritually restored to us after death. Read Alma 41:6–9. What can we do to have goodness and happiness restored to us even when we have sinned?

  4. Happiness is….

  5. Top Google hit: Wikihow • Be optimistic • Follow your gut • Make enough money to meet your basic needs: food, shelter, clothing • Treat your body like it deserves to be happy • Stay close to friends and family • Be compassionate • Have deep, meaningful conversations • Find happiness you have in the job you have now • Smile • Forgive • Make friends

  6. Based on Alma 41:10-11, why is that a true statement? “God is the happiest of men. I am perfectly satisfied that my Father and my God is a cheerful, pleasant, lively, and good-natured being. He is a jovial person and a beautiful man.” Heber C. Kimball, JD 4:222

  8. “We all are prone, once in a while, to be in a state contrary to the nature of happiness, and not necessarily because we have pursued wickedness or iniquity to a full extent. We may have become a little careless. We may have neglected our relationships with those closest to us. … Perhaps we may have permitted small bad habits or attitudes to enter into our lives; or perhaps we have even lost to some degree an understanding of the importance of keeping a covenant with exactness. If so, we are in a dangerous state. We must become aware of it. “We may observe that for some time we are not really happy, that we must constantly force ourselves to smile…In order to be close to the words of the Lord’s anointed, it is necessary to read and study the scriptures with commitment and dedication.” Elder F. EnzioBusche, “University for Eternal Life,” Ensign, May 1989, 72

  9. Search Alma 41:14-15 looking for the path that leads to happiness. What experiences have you had in your life that have testified to you that this pathway leads to happiness?
