  1. Detail Check List “Excellence is in the details. Give attention to the details and excellence will come.” – Perry Paxton

  2. What specifics are present? • Shape • Size • Color • Brand • Texture • Type

  3. What unnecessary details are there? • What do they add? • What is lost without them? • What feeling/tone do they create?

  4. What details are missing? Negation-a statement that is a refusal or denial of some other statement Examples: "I have had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn't it.” - Groucho Marx "Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.”-Lemony Snicket "I have some rope up here, but I do not think you would accept my help, since I am only waiting around to kill you.”-Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

  5. Concrete or Abstract? • Concrete- see, hear, taste, touch • Abstract- concepts (love, happiness, hate)

  6. Something to Ponder… “A mountain is composed of tiny grains of earth. The ocean is made up of tiny drops of water. Even so, life is but an endless series of little details, actions, speeches, and thoughts. And the consequences whether good or bad of even the least of them are far-reaching.” -Unknown

  7. Let’s play a game of details… Are you observant of the details around you? CLOSE YOUR EYES- raise your hand if you know the answer. • What does the sign say that is above my doorway? • What color is the “What did I Miss” notebook? • What is the color of the carpet? • How many windows are in this room? • What are the colors of the desk chairs? • What am I wearing today? How did you do…?
