  3. It is finally time for me to launch my new business, and I could not be more excited. I look forward to meeting new clients and vendors. I have organized my thoughts and ideas for this new step in my future. This will be the springboard for my business, and I will need to carefully plan and promote this event. I am thrilled to be at this point in my life and anticipate great things to come…

The Invitations… You are cordially invited to the Grand Opening of The Pink Tulip Saturday, November sixteenth at six o’clock in the evening at Still Water Lodge in Glen Rose, Texas 407 SW Barnard There will be door prizes and lots of food and drink.   5. The target market for my grand opening will be potential brides, grooms, and clients looking for other event planning and design. I will also invite vendors from my vendor list and past clients. It will be important to have past clients for several reasons. First, they will have first hand knowledge of my abilities and work ethic. This will be very important for referrals. I will want close friends and family there, as well. This will be for moral support and help during the event. I will encourage attendance to this event by sending invitations and advertising in the newspaper, Facebook, and on my personal website. Prior to the grand opening, I will participate in the Granbury and Stephenville Bridal shows. This will provide me with networking opportunities, and I will be able to make contact with lots of Brides.

  7. Biography… Mandy Gartrellis a 36 year old who lives in Glen Rose, Texas with her husband of thirteen years, Brandon. They have two children, Aiden and Conner. Mandy graduated from Glen Rose High School in 1995 and went on to study Psychology and Religious studies. In her senior year at Tarleton State University, Mandy decided to pursue Art, instead or Psychology. During this transition in her life, she married Brandon, and she began working as a dental assistant. Two years later she left dental assisting and began orthodontic assisting and lab work. Today she continues to work for an Orthodontist making retainers. In 2009, Mandy was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33. “This was a scary time in my life. I had to put weddings and parties on the backburner, so I could take care of myself.” After five surgeries, six rounds of chemo, and multiple hospital stays, cancer is a thing of the past. Mandy is ready to once again pursue what she loves…wedding and event planning and design. She has received her certification as a Wedding/Event Planner from the Wedding Planning Institute, and she is ready to apply all she has learned from this career enhancement. Mandy is active at First Baptist Church, Glen Rose. She credits her faith for shaping her into the person she is today. She also enjoys volunteering at her boy’s schools, shopping, and cooking. “I am ready for what the future holds for me in the wedding/event business. I am so excited to be back in the business and cannot wait for the next event. I am proud of my accomplishment through my certification. Taking the Wedding/Event Planner course has been valuable and taught me another dimension to this business. I feel ready and prepared to handle weddings and events of all sizes and budgets.”

  8. 30-Second Sound Bite… Hello, my name is Mandy Gartrell, and I am a certified Wedding and Event Planner. I plan and design weddings and special events, including showers, birthdays, and private and corporate parties. I will be hosting a grand opening celebration for my new business, The Pink Tulip. This event will take place at Still Water Lodge in Glen Rose, Texas on November 16, 2013. Activities will begin at 6:00 pm, and we will wrap up our evening at 10:00pm. This will be the launch for my new business, and it will give Brides and other potential clients an opportunity to meet me and other vendors I plan to work alongside. Future clients will be able to schedule and make appointments, and one lucky Bride will win a FREE Wedding Planning Package. There will also be door prizes and catered food and beverage.   12. The location… Still Water Lodge 407 SW Barnard Street Glen Rose, TX 76043 This will be the perfect location for the launch of my new business. It is a beautiful lodge in the heart of Glen Rose nestled on the Paluxy River. Guests will not only enjoy the beauty of the Lodge, but they will enjoy the tranquility, as well. This is a beautiful location I want potential Brides and clients to see. It is perfect for all types and styles of special events.

  13. As potential clients and guests arrive, they will be greeted by me, and I will offer them a bag with marketing materials, vendor information, and goodies. Guests will be free to roam the Lodge visiting with vendors and enjoying mini hors d’oeuvre stations. There is a theater in the Lodge that will be playing “Father of the Bride”. Outside the theater will be a popcorn bar for guests to enjoy while they watch the movie.

  17. Décor… Of course, there will be lots of pink tulips for décor. There are two separate dining areas at the Lodge. Each room will be set with square tables and adorned with floor length off-white linens. Atop the linens will be a beautiful brown Damask overlays. The centerpieces will be tall fluted vases filled with pink tulips. Candlelight will illuminate the water in the vases and create a warm, relaxing atmosphere for all the guests. Guests will sit in chiavari chairs as they enjoy mini hors d’oeuvre stations.

  18. Food and Drinks… • The food and drink for the evening will be catered by Hammond’s BBQ in Glen Rose. This is one of my vendor favs!! They always do an awesome job, and this will be no exception. • The menu for the evening is as follows: • Mini Brisket Sliders with BBQ Sauce • Individual Macaroni & Cheese • Assortment of seasonal fruits, vegetable, cheeses, and crackers • Mashed Potato Bar • Mini Tacos • Roasted Corn Salsa, Guacamole, and chips • Drinks will be available throughout the evening at different stations throughout the Lodge.

  19. Movies and Popcorn… The movie for the evening will be “Father of the Bride”. This will be fun and amusing for guests and will afford them the opportunity to sit and rest if needed. I will also provide a popcorn station with several popcorn flavors and fun containers that guests will keep at the end of the night.

  20. Drawings and Door Prizes… To show my appreciation for guest’s attendance at my grand opening, I will hold a door prize every 30 minutes. The Grand Prize will be FREE Wedding or Event Planning.

  21. My Brand… The Pink Tulip Wedding and Event Survival with a Smile! Being a Breast Cancer Survivor is a huge motivating factor for me to become certified and start this business. My business name has a lot of significance and meaning. The pink represents me being a survivor. The tulip is my favorite flower, and it is the one of the few flowers that continues to grow after it has been cut. Again, I find meaning and significance in this. My brand is quirky and fun and laced with meaning. I will put my brand on breast cancer ribbons and ask that guests wear them throughout the evening. No matter what happens in life, I can always find a reason to smile!!!
