Neighbourhood Pride Project • 3 Services working together at a local level with local people delivering environmental improvements • Funded by The Gateshead Housing Company, Safer Gateshead Partnership and Local Environmental Services • Potential schemes identified by local communities and supported by partners and Ward members • Funding applications managed locally in each of the neighbourhoods by 5 Neighbourhood Pride Teams

How the Partnership and Project developed • Best Value Review of Services to Neighbourhoods took place – Neighbourhood Pride Project established • Council reviewed its Area Based Approach – 5 Area Forums were created • Local Environmental Services reviewed their service – introduced Neighbourhood Services • A grounds maintenance Service Level Agreement was developed between TGHC and LES , involving customers The Journey

  13. Making A Difference Locally The area suffered from a range of criminal and anti social behaviour activity including illegal parking of HGV vehicles, illegal roadside car sales, drug offences and congregation of young people.

  14. Making a Difference Locally • Reduce fly tipping • Provide better access for grass cutters • Reduce maintenance costs/time • Improve appearance of area

Making A Difference Locally • Neglected former Council nursery site • Potential to provide a unique community resource. • The site is virtually enclosed in the centre of Housing Company bungalows and family housing. • Involving the local community the site has been transformed into a positive community asset that local residents can enjoy and be proud of.
