TT course and session news (1) • New 2006 C++ programming curriculum • C++ Programming Part 1 - Introduction to Object-Oriented Design and Programming (3 days) • C++ Programming Part 2 - Advanced C++ and its Traps and Pitfalls (4 days) • C++ Programming Part 3 - Templates and the STL (Standard Template Library) (2 days) • C++ Programming Part 4 – Exceptions (1 day)

  4. TT course and session news (2) • New or updated programming courses • Introduction to Databasesand Database Design (2 days) • Design Patterns (2 days) • Software Engineeringin the Small and the Large (2 days) • New LabVIEW short course (one day): • Working efficiently with LabVIEW 8

ECDL (1) • Following the last TEC, all ECDL-related courses on office software (*) are under review • various implications: • choice of trainer, • course descriptions, curriculum, • reactions from participants (generally positive) • financial implications (*) Windows, Word, Excel, Office, PowerPoint, Access, Internet Explorer, Outlook

ECDL (2) • Technical Training course sessions with ECDL certification ran sofar: • 3-4 April: ACCESS 2003 Level 2: ECDL3 out of 3 participants passed (%: 97, 94, 91) • 27 April-May 2: EXCEL 2003 Level 2: ECDL3 out of 5 participants passed (%: 94, 91, 77, 72, 66). • 22-23 May: WORD 2003 niveau 2 : ECDL1 out of 2 participants passed (%: 86, 44) • next: 13-14 July, ACCESS 2003 - Level 1: ECDL • Aim: full ECDL-based curriculum, inclusive of certification, implemented by end of August 2006

Evaluation project with UNIGE • October-June internship • Implementation of an evaluation procedure for Technical Training course sessions • Presentation (in French) for DTOs onFriday, June 23rd, 11:00-12:00, 5-4-026 • Positive experience, to be repeated • Are there any DTOs interested in short-term (4 months) internships?

  8. Training Centre Upgrade 2006 • 3 PCs to upgrade machines in room 25 • new flat screens in rooms 24 and 25 • more investment scheduled for 2006: • 2 projectors • Chairs • Investigating cheap solutions to offer a few MACs in at least one room • ...
