  1. Know the Benefits of Cod Liver Oil The health benefits of fish oil contributed to its popularity. There are many types of fish oils out there, and one of the popular ones is the cod liver oil. Like the typical fish oil, it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which is known for benefits like reducing inflammation and improving blood pressure. You can find it in different varieties, such as mint cod liver oil, which can make the taste more tolerable to some users. You can find it as lemon cod liver oil too, but regardless of the flavor, make sure it contains a lot of vitamin D and A, and sufficient amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. Cod liver oil may be a fish oil, but it is different from conventional fish oil, which is extracted from the tissues of oily fish, like mackerel, herring, tuna, and anchovy. Cod oil, however, comes from the liver of the cod fish. Because it comes from the liver, you can be sure that the lemon or mint cod liver oil is rich in fat-soluble vitamins like D and A. A teaspoon of cod liver oil is incredibly nutritious and also provides Vitamins A and D. There are many other benefits to taking cod liver oil: Reduce inflammation – – Lemon cod liver oil contains omega-3 fatty acids that may help suppress the proteins responsible for chronic inflammation. Studies have found that people who lack vitamins A and D are more prone to chronic inflammation. Vitamins D and A are also powerful antioxidants that bind and neutralize harmful free radicals, which may also worsen inflammation. ● Improve symptoms of arthritis – – Damage to the joints can be caused by an autoimmune disease known as rheumatoid arthritis. We have yet to find a cure to that condition, but there are things you can do to improve the symptoms, such as by taking cod liver oil to reduce swelling and joint stiffness. Improve bone health – – As you age, your bone density decreases, too, especially after age 30. This makes you more susceptible to fractures. Vitamin D in mint cod liver oil may help minimize age-related bone deterioration as it boosts calcium absorption. Just make sure your diet includes calcium. Boost eye health – – Vitamin A and omega-3s in lemon cod liver oil are known to protect your eyes from macular degeneration and glaucoma, and inflammation-related eye conditions. ● ● ●
