  2. Purpose • To identify whether or not common household objects are acids or bases. Safety: Wear safety glasses, do not get any chemicals on yourself.

  3. Observation chart • Create an observation chart similar to the one below in your notes

  4. Questions • Make a pH diagram similar to the one below. On your diagram, record the placement and pH of the household products you have tested. • Did any of the results surprise you, why? • Describe some everyday uses for indicators. • What are some limitations to using colour indicators? • Suppose you are given four beakers containing unidentified, colorless liquids: distilled water, acid, base, and table salt. Describe how you would safely find out which was which. (Write a minimum of four sentences) 1 7 14
