  2. A disease is an abnormal condition that affects the body of an organism. It is often construed as a medical condition associated with specific symptoms and signs . Disorder is a disturbance of structure due to genetic failure as a result of exogenous factors.

CAUSES • Negative/suppressed emotions • Acid forming diet (all meats, poultry, dairy and most oils • Heavy metals such as lead and mercury and other toxic metals used in dental amalgams fillings • Lack of enough water • Processed food Chlorine or Fluoride in water • Chemicals in food such as pesticides, insecticides, herbicide, etc.

  12. 3. Controllers – these medicines control illness that don’t go away • Ex. Diabetes, asthma, blood pressure • 4. Immunizations – important medicines that keep you from getting sick in the first place. Usually given as a shot. • Ex. Measels , chickenpox

  13. WAYS TO TAKE MEDICINE Swallow – pill or liquid . Once swallowed the digestive juices in the stomach break it down. Medicine passes in the blood stream. Blood carries it to other parts of the body. IV – if need immediate effect then IV . This makes medicine get into the blood quickly .

  14. WAYS TO TAKE MEDICINE • Shots – these are given under the skin. They are then absorbed into the blood stream. The medicine wouldn’t work if the digestive juices broke them down. • Directly on the spot – putting ointment on an infected cut or dropping eardrops into a clogged ear.

  15. WHERE DO MEDICINES COME FROM ? Scientists in Pharmaceutical companies make medicine . Pharmaceutical companies supply medicine to the Pharmacy. Medicine is now ready for you to pick up when you take your Prescription.

  16. WHAT ARE PRESCRIPTIONS ? They are ‘vouchers for medicine’ , written by the doctor after he decides what is wrong with you. They tell us which medicine we need, how much we need to take and how often we should take it.
