  3. EVIDENCE THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT IS INCREASING Changes in the brightness of various wavelengths of outgoing infrared radiation detected from orbiting spacecraft between 1970 & 1997. RED ARROWS point to changes in infrared absorption by the greenhouse gases CH4, CO2, O3, CFC-11 and CFC-12. These reductions in the brightness of earthshine correspond to the increasing concentrations of these greenhouse gases, and provides direct experimental evidence that these greenhouse gases are absorbing MORE infrared radiation, and thus increasingthe greenhouse effect.
