  4. Partners In Survival™ National Training ProgramFunded via PA 03050 The Intervention: Partners in Survival™ (PIS) program is designed to educate, train, and empower the male spouses and partners of women with cancer, and in particular, women with breast cancer; and enhance support and improve quality of survivorship for minority women with breast cancer. Partners in Survival™ National Training Program (PIS) consists of: • 90 minute workshop for male caregivers • 2-6 hours train-the-trainer program

  6. Process Outcomes by Strategy

  7. Number of Men Reached by Strategy Men trained in 35 states

  8. Impact Outcomes: Pre Workshop Results 32.1% of participants scored with a high level depression and 30.8% as with a high level of anxiety In terms of distress, 25.6% of the respondents scored as being high distress Overall, these men scored higher on the subscales that show poor problem-solving abilities Correlations between the components of distress and negative problem-solving skills range from -.33 to -.45 with p<.01 This suggests that those men who are more distressed are more likely to utilize a negative problem orientation. Previous studies show that this type of outcome will have a detrimental effect on the person with cancer
