  1. Teen Video Game Addiction By Marcus Dixon & Stiv Deleon Video Game Addiction No Fun @ http://www.webmd.com/mental-health/features/video-game-addiction-no-fun

  2. What Is Addiction? • Addiction is when a person craves something and feels like they need it all the time • If the person doesn’t get what they want then they become sensitive and depressed • Addiction can become very violent

  3. Psychological factor • Video games allow people to escape from their everyday life and feel good • Sherry Rauh said, “The virtual life becomes more appealing than real life”.

  4. The Harm In Addiction • “Too much gaming may seem relatively harmless compared with the dangers of a drug overdose, but Bakkr says video game addiction can ruin lives”, says Sherry Rauh • Sherry Rauh says, “That takes away from normal social development. You can get a 21-year-old with the emotional intelligence of a 12-year-old. He’s never learned to talk to girls. He’s never learned to play a sport”.

  5. Addiction Warning Signs • Gaming on the mind a lot, especially during other activities • Gaming to escape from real life, depression, and anxiety • Lying to friends and family to hide gaming

  6. Parent Tips • Parents should keep logs of when their child is playing and how long • See how the child reacts if you give them a time limit

  7. Treatment • They have to learn to use gaming responsibly and only as a past time • “It’s like a food addiction,” Young explains. “You have to learn to live with food”.
