MSQH Philosophy on Accreditation Programme • The main objectives of the Accreditation Survey are: • ACCREDITATION “ is a self-assessment and external PEER REVIEW PROCESSused by health care organizations to accurately assess their level of performance in relation to established standardsand to implement ways to continuously improve the health care system.” • Surveyors able to act as EDUCATORS, ENABLERS and EVALUATORSfor the facility. MSQH Surveyors are not AUDITORS • Surveyors offer consultative advice to help identify existing quality related issues and suggest possible avenue and methods for improvement. They offer informal on-site education to help prevent incidence of future problems and to set the facilities on the right path towards better compliance with MSQH Hospital Accreditation Standards. Thus, minimizing risks within the facility.

Standard 3: Facility and Biomedical Equipment Management and Safety Survey Item & Self AssessmentPREAMBLE The Person In Charge (PIC) shall ensure that the Healthcare Facility is provided with safe, functional and support facilities and equipment for its patients, families, staff and visitors. The facilities, equipment and maintenance staff shall be effectively managed to reduce and control hazards and risks, and prevent accidents and injuries. These services may be provided from within the Facility by either its own staff or contract staff, or contracted to qualified external contractors.
