Schooling • In the spring of 1855 Rockefeller spent 10 weeks at Folsom's Commercial College -- a "chain College" -- where he learned single- and double-entry bookkeeping, penmanship, commercial history, mercantile customs, banking, and exchange. At the peak of his success he owned approximately 90 percent of the Oil being refined within the United States. Thus making him one of the most common oil tycoons to this date.

  7. Service provided • The service Rockefeller formed the basis of his business own would be refining. While the concept of drilling for oil was still a fairly new concept at the time, he combined the need for oil and the want of a purer oil and profited immensely.
