  3. Thesis • As the Europeans were busy expanding during the Age of Exploration, the cultures of the Middle East were busy fighting each other and solidifying their own empires-which eventually led to these empires to become significantly less important on the world stage.

What role did these empires have in the formation of the modern world? • As the Europeans were increasing in power during the 1400-1800’s, these Muslim empires remained focused on their own territory and would eventually be controlled by the European powers during and after WWI. The Europeans would eventually divide these powers creating the new countries of the Middle East.
