  2. Project Summary • The object of the project is to modernize the rural medical center of the small village of Besidka, 124 km from Kyiv. The medical center services 3200 people in Besidka and around. The nearest other medical facility is 30 km away • The building is run-down and its only equipment are baby scales and a gynecological chair • The centre is staffed by a qualified dentist, nurse and attendant • With the project, we will • renovate the premises with help from Rotaractors from around Europe • equip the centre with basic medical equipment • The result will be a great improvement of primary medical services to a poor, aging and ill-served rural community • We invite Rotaract and Rotary clubs to • help meet the budget of EUR 15.000 • participate in the renovation work and have some great fun in Ukraine

  3. Problem Definition • Village name: Besidka (Бесідка) • Location: 124 km from Kyiv (the Capital of Ukraine), Kyiv region • Population: 1216 people in the village and more than 2000 people in the neighboring villages • Average age: more than 60% of population are people above 50 years old

  4. Problem Definition • Small medical centre for almost 3000 people. • Single baby scale and gynecological chair in the centre. • No basic medical equipment

  5. Problem Definition This is one of the rooms in the centre. Medical staff keeps it clean, but it is not enough for good treatment of people This is how the first-aid kit looks. There is no financing for purchasing the most essential medicine

  6. Problem Definition One baby scale and gyne-cologicalchair - the only available equipment in the centre. Insufficient for providing the most basic primary medical services.

  7. Our Objectives • To purchase the most essential medical equipment • To make basic renovation of the building with Rotaractors from other countries

  10. Sponsorship packages • Maecenas. Those Clubs who would like to donate money for purchasing equipment are our main hope! Thanks to such Clubs we plan to collect required amount of money and equip the medical centre in Kyiv region. • Friends. We are also looking for Clubs who like our project idea and would like to support us but not financially. We will gather posters from different countries devoted to healthcare with logos of Club-Friends and put them on the walls of the centre. We will make this it international! • Philanthropist. Those are the most active Clubs! We invite everybody to come to Ukraine in spring and help with renovation of the medical centre. You will have a chance to officially open the medical centre in Besidka and celebrate successful completion of the Project.

  11. Maecenas package: Participants: Rotary and Rotaract Clubs Participation fee: any donation will make us one step closer to our goal! Deadline: April 30th 2011 The flag of your country with your Club name will be placed in the medical centre to appreciate your participation

  12. Friends package: Participants: Rotaract Clubs Participation fee: any professional or hand-made posters that encourage healthy way of life Deadline: April 30th 2011 The flag of your country with your Club name will be placed in the medical centre to appreciate your participation

Philanthropist package: Participants: Rotary and Rotaract Clubs Participation fee: 12 of the most generous Clubs who are ready to donate at least 300 EUR to cover renovation of the building and purchase the equipment. Deadline for submission: April 30th 2011 When: May 2011 How long: 4 days Where: 2 days in Kyiv and 2 days in Besidka Program: excursion in Kyiv, some renovation works and official opening of the medical centre We will organize unforgettable “Thanks-Program” for you!
