Material Handling Situations That Call for a Magliner U-Boat

A hand lift truck is a powered material handling device perfect for moving and stacking heavy loads. With a hand lift truck, you can not only move heavy loads, but the lift hand truck also has a powered lifting mechanism to make lifting and stocking that much easier. And everyone in the industry knows that the best hand lift truck available is a Magliner.

  1. Material Handling Situations That Call for a Magliner U-Boat Magliner is one of the best-known names in the material handling industry. They’re so well known for their hand trucks that in many quarters people simply refer to any hand truck as a “Magliner.” But that level of quality, consistency, durability, and reliability doesn’t solely apply to their hand truck or hand lift truck lines alone. Magline produces an entire suite of material handling solutions as rugged and reliable as their hand trucks. In fact, some material handling tasks call for a tool other than a traditional hand truck. For example, some jobs are perfectly suited for a Magliner U-boat. U-boats, for the unfamiliar, generally consist of a platform supported by six wheels with a set of handles on either end. Here are a few situations in which a Magliner U-boat comes in handy. Amount of Cargo A U-boat is a bulk cargo transport solution. It can certainly be used for the transportation of smaller loads, but doing so could be considered comparable to using a motorized stair climbing cart exclusively for transporting loads over flat surfaces—possible, but overkill in most situations. The U-boat’s platform is several times larger than the platform of a traditional hand truck, allowing it to carry considerably more cargo than a hand truck alone. If transport tasks generally necessitate moving smaller loads short distances, however, a hand truck is likely to be more appropriate. Type of Cargo

  2. The U-boat's greater size, increased number of wheels, and greater transport capacity means it's not only capable of moving more cargo but heavier cargo as well. That increased weight capacity is partially a function of there simply being more room to load more weight. When using a Magliner U-boat for transporting cargo, be sure to load the heaviest boxes or other cargo on the bottom and the lightest on the top. Ensure that the weight is evenly distributed and be sure to strap or otherwise secure the load if necessary. Type and Distance of Terrain A hand truck, including more specialized models like a heavy duty hand truck, excel at transporting a few heavy, bulky, and awkward loads on flat terrain. Hand trucks are also very well-suited for the maneuverable transportation of those relatively small loads in and out of tighter spots. However, due to their six wheels and unique ability to tilt in response to obstacles, Magliner U- boats are better suited for traveling over farther distances of more varied terrain with heavier loads. So, if you or your employees are using hand trucks for repeat trips and/or carrying stock over long distances and struggling with bumpy terrain, around tight turns, or through thresholds, it’s probably time to consider investing in a Magliner U-boat.
