  1. Do You Know the Common Anxiety Types? Anxiety is not just hard to deal with, it can be nearly impossible. The first step to learning how to deal with it is knowing the common anxiety types. This will let you figure out what type of anxiety you may have and then seek treatment for it. Doing this is essential to treating anxiety One thing you need to understand is because every person is different, you may have more anxiety symptoms than we are discussing here, or you may have fewer. Just look at the basic information and use it as a guide to take to your doctors if you feel your anxiety is at the point of medical attention.

  2. Types of Panic and Anxiety Disorders To further understand what and when you are experiencing a panic or anxiety attack, you have to know what type of disorder you are experiencing. Panic and anxiety attacks are classified in 6 major types, each having their own individual symptoms - generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, phobia, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and social anxiety disorder. Read on to identify what particular symptoms are seen in the different types. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) Are worry and fear is the reason for the distraction of your day-to-day activities? Then, you must be experiencing generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). People with GAD constantly worry about things, which are other people normally worry about, only in a higher level. And, they worry without actually knowing the reason behind. Physical symptoms associated with GAD are insomnia, stomach upset, restlessness and fatigue. Obsessive-compulsive Disorder (OCD) When unwanted thoughts or behaviors that you can't seem to sop doing or controlling trouble you, you must be OCD. People with OCD may find that they are bothered by obsessions, such as seeing a small spot on a counter you've just cleaned, and decide to clean the entire house, just because of a small fraction of dirt. They may also experience an out of control impulse of doing something over and over. Panic Disorder If you fear you're going to be experiencing a panic attack, or if you experience recurring, unanticipated panic attacks, then you may be suffering from panic disorder. Another name for a panic disorder is agoraphobia, which is defined as the fear of experiencing a panic attack in an unexpected time, with the fear of no one helping you in the case it 1

  3. happens. People with agoraphobia are most likely to avoid public places like a mall, or confined spaces like an elevator. Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PSTD) This is the result of person who has experience a life-threatening event. People suffering PSTD experience flashbacks or terrifying dreams about the accident experienced, startling easily, keeping away from other people, and avoiding places or objects that remind you of the event. Phobia When one experience intense fear of an object, event or activity, then he may have a phobia on that particular case, which sometimes aren't as terrifying as they seem to be. Common phobias are fear of animals such as snakes, or fear of heights or water. Social Anxiety Disorder When one feels that he is unwanted and unappreciated by the people around him, he is suffering from a social anxiety disorder. This is also defined as extreme shyness, which is why stage fright is the most commonly social anxiety disorder. We should always remember that professional help is the cornerstone to recovery, but the sufferer must play an active role in recovering from anxiety and not to depend totally on professional help.
