  1. Leukemia - What Are the Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments? Leukemia, as defined, is a bone marrow disorder that occurs when there is an abnormal increase in the number of white blood cells, one of the types of blood cells whose main function is to fight off invading bacteria and viruses. When this blood cell abnormality occurs, it can cause two harmful effects to the body. This leads to improper maturation of white blood cells (WBCs) as they develop. As a result, it damages the body's immune system as it weakens the ability of WBC to fight infection. This can clog the bone marrow and leave no room for platelets and red blood cells that also have essential functions for the body.

  2. Two types of leukemia Acute leukemia This requires immediate treatment as it rapidly increases the progression of malignant cells. This is the common form that children with Acute leukemia often experience. chronic leukemia It does not always require immediate treatment because the cancer cells grow gradually. However, regular follow-up is recommended to control the symptoms of the disease. This form is commonly experienced by older people and is rarely cured. Signs and symptoms of leukemia The symptoms of leukemia are difficult to find on the outside since it is a totally internal process. If any of the reports found that bone marrow damage or even lack of platelets may be the cause of this cancer. Another symptom may be the suppression or dysfunctional behavior of white blood cells in the blood for no reason. Leukemia affects the immune system, so if there are complaints of frequent infections or even tonsil infections, mouth sores, diarrhea, pneumonia, or even opportunistic infections, there is a high chance that the disease will develop into leukemia. ● Headache ● unexplained weight loss ● Bleeding from the nose and gums ● Bone pain with unknown causes ● Acne ● Fever, night sweats, chills, and other flu-like symptoms ● bruise easily ● Blood in the urine ● Tired 1

  3. ● full stomach ● Frequent viral or bacterial infections. Causes of leukemia Current research points to a combination of viruses, genetics, and exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation. Although statistics indicate a higher incidence of the disease in people exposed to certain environmental risk factors, leukemia does not seem to be caused by any particular one. Among the environmental factors believed to cause leukemia, here are some of the most plausible: - Smoking: It is believed that smoking increases the chances of getting leukemia. Although statistics show that about 20% of acute leukemia cases are related to smoking, leukemia also occurs in non-smokers and therefore cannot be considered a cause of leukemia itself - Prolonged exposure to benzene: statistics show that this is an important risk factor in certain forms of leukemia, such as myeloid leukemia; -Chemotherapy and cancer treatment: Previous cancer treatments and chemotherapy are known to facilitate the onset and development of leukemia and can be considered plausible causes of leukemia. A few years after finishing chemotherapy and other treatments for some forms of cancer, most people can develop leukemia. Of the genetic factors thought to cause leukemia, the following are considered the most important: - chromosomal abnormalities: certain rare genetic syndromes are known to contribute to the causes of leukemia; 2

  4. - Genetic problems with the immune system: a weakened immune system is very likely to facilitate the development of leukemia and can therefore be considered a cause of leukemia; - Down syndrome: children born with this syndrome have a very high risk of developing acute leukemia. Treatment Medically leukemia is treated mainly with chemotherapy, although CML treatment radiotherapy, and biological therapy can be used in certain subtypes of leukemia. Nutritional supplements offer help support the healthy function of the immune system, and in particular, the white blood cells in leukemia patients. In addition, some nutritional supplements are able to kill leukemia cells. The newly released Solarstrips is an interesting addition to possible treatment modalities in that for the first time they are able to release the full benefit of marine phytoplanktons in a form that can be absorbed by humans. When a person is diagnosed with leukemia, he is most likely referred to a hematologist-oncologist, a Leukemia Specialist in Coimbatore that specializes After examination, the doctor then suggests the possible treatments that can be employed to treat leukemia, which will depend on the type and severity of leukemia. The usual treatment of leukemia is divided into two categories: treatments that are aimed at fighting cancer and treatments that are aimed at relieving the symptoms and the side effects of the disease. 3
