  3. A New PHENIX Public-Relations Display • When first data comes, STAR will be sure to get an event display to the media. • First impressions are important. We should be there, too. • In offline, we don’t currently have a package that will do the job. ROOT will show events, but it isn’t that pretty. • Kyle’s software won’t yet work on the central arm, and is unlikely to be there in time. • So, here is another solution...   8. Pov-Ray Based Event Display • Run the Reconstruction chain as would be done normally. • A ROOT macro has been written to extract the coordinate and track information from the DST files. • The output of the ROOT macro is a Pov-Ray include file that can be processed in Pov-Ray. • The detector geometry is hard-coded in a separate file. • Processing time in Pov-Ray is about 2 minutes on my 450 MHz PC.
