  1. After installing the TI Connect software and launching it, this will be your home screen

  2. Let’s become familiar with some of the functions of TI Connect. The first icon that you can choose is TI DeviceExplorer. This allows you to view the files on a calculator that is connect to the computer via a TI Connectivity Cable.

  3. The TI ScreenCapture function allows for a screen shot to be taken on whatever TI device is connected to the computer. This is an example of a screen shot. It can be used in a variety of ways including putting it on a hand out with instructions for activities involving use of a calculator.

  4. The Backup icon allows you to store backup files of what is on your calculator. This is important as the RAM on TI devices can fill up very quickly depending on what it being added to it. So backup your files often! Similarly, the Restore icon will restore files to your TI device.

  5. TI DataEditor lets you make a List or Matrix and save it. The saved data can be sent to TI devices. This is good for when teachers want to use a specific data set but don’t want to use time in class to have each student punch in all the data. This also prevents input errors on the part of the student.

  6. TI DeviceInfo gives info on the TI device that is connected to the computer. It displays information on things like the device’s current operating system and how much data storage space is left on the RAM.

  7. If you save your TI data in the folder that gets set up on your hard drive when TI Connect is installed, you can access it through Explore My TI Data. This would be a good place to put downloaded applications and files, saved data lists, or screen shots to be used later.
