  4. Answer the following questions. Pg 56-57 • ¿Quiénesatlético? • ¿ A quién le gustaestudiar? • ¿ Quiénesperezoso? • ¿ Quiénesdesorganizada? • ¿ Quiénesvieja? • ¿ Quiéntiene el pelorubio? • ¿ Quiénescómico?

Nouns • All Spanish nouns are either masculine or feminine. • Nouns ending in –o are usually masculine. • Eg. libro, chico, caballo • Nouns ending in –a are usually feminine. • Eg. música, chica, bicicleta • All other nouns you must look at the (definite/indefinite) article to know whether it is masculine or feminine. Eg. el arból

  6. Nouns Making nouns plural: If a noun ends in a vowel you add an –s. • chico=chicos • bicicleta=bicicletas If a noun ends in a consonant you add –es. • mujer=mujeres • actividad=actividades

  8. Definite articles (the) • Definite articles(the) are used with nouns to indicate specific person, places, or things. • In Spanish, articles match nouns in gender and number. • Eg. The book, the books El libro, los libros

  10. Add a definite article. Translate • ____chicas son inteligentes. • ____maestraes de Argentina. • _____amigos son comicos. • _____chicaespeliroja. • ______hombre esguapo. • ______personas son organizadas. • ______mujeresguapa. • ______estudiantes son bajos.

  11. Indefinite article • Indefinite article (a,an) are used with nouns to indicate nonspecific persons, places, or things. • Remember that articles match the noun in gender and number. • Eg. a friend, a boy un amigo, un chico

  14. ¿Cómoeres(tú)? • ¿Cómoeres(tú)? = How are you like? • ¿Cómoesusted? • Use the verb ser(to be) to tell how someone is like. • Yo soy alto= I am tall. • Ella escomica= She is funny. • Ustedes son serios= • You all are serious.

  15. Adjectives • Adjectives are words that describe nouns. • In Spanish the adjective usually comes after the noun. • el chicoguapo • los estudiantesserios

  16. Adjectives • Adjectives are words that describe nouns. • Eg. Serious, lazy, crazy etc… • Adjectives agree in number and gender with the noun they describe. • The serious boy = el chicoserio • The serious girl = la chicaseria

  18. Other rules with adjectives: • Adjectives that end in –e match both genders. el maestrointeligente la maestrainteligente • Many adjectives that end in consonant match both genders. el amigojoven la amigajoven

  19. Other rules with adjectives: • Some adjectives that end in a consonant add –a to form the feminine singular. Theses exceptions must be memorized. el chicotrabajador la chicatrabajadora • To make an adjective plural: add –s if it ends in a vowel add –esif it ends in a consonant. laschicastrabajadoras los chicostrabajadores

Translate • The girl is artistic. • The boys are intelligent. • The women are young. • He is disorganized. • You are studious. • Allie and Graciela are serious. • Rosa and Justin are bad students. • Luke is a good student. • Nicolas and Jaime are funny people. • Carolina and Raquel are hard-working students.
