    1. UNESCAP Sustainable Training Programme in Multimodal Transport and Logistics

    2. The training programme has components: Manual on Training Fundamentals prepared by UNESCAP to be supplemented with training of trainer workshops where possible.

    3. Substantive Training Materials on 6 subjects Substantive Training Manuals

    4. Delivery of the training material by one or more training institutes at a national level, in conjunction with the National Forwarders Association with support from the relevant Government Agencies. ESCAP to assist in the preparation and training delivery.

    6. Training Manual of Liability, Insurance & Claims

    7. Manual’s Objectives On completion of this training manual the student should be able to describe: The functions and responsibility of the freight forwarder. The main functions of a Bill of Lading. The liability regimes and international connections applicable to carriage of goods by sea, road, rail and air. Outline the major features of the International rules on the carriage of goods. Understand the principles of insurance, where it is placed and the different parties involved. The different types of insurance cover available to cargo owners, shipowners and multimodal transport operators.

Overview of each chapters Chapter 1 The Evolving Role of the Freight Forwarder Chapter 2 Bills of Lading and Other Sea Transport Documents Chapter 3 The Scope of Liability of the Freight Forwarder Chapter 4 Liability Relating to the Goods Chapter 5 Chapter 5a Introduction to Insurance Chapter 5b Insurance Markets Chapter 5c Cargo Insurance Chapter 6 Remedies and Enforcement

    10. Further study Once you have read and understood the manual you may wish to study other subjects working towards the FIATA diploma. This will show your employer, clients and peers that you are competent in the freight forwarding business.
