  2. CLIMATE CHANGE SCHOOLS COMPETITION • Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism launched the schools competition. • The competition is aimed at grade 5 and 6 learners • The aim of the competition is to raise awareness on global climate change issues in South Africa

  3. The climate change teacher’s resource guide: Learning about climate change • DEAT launched the climate change teacher’s resource guide in 2003.This book is used by teachers to explore some of the key questions related to climate change. These issues include: • The causes of climate change • The effects of climate change • Who is doing something about it?

  4. Vulnerability and Adaptation • DEAT organized a workshop on vulnerability and adaptation to climate change • The participation was from government departments and other institutions • The aim of the workshop was to identify sectors that can be affected • A discussion paper drafted

  5. Clean Development Mechanism • A workshop organized to introduce the CDM to government departments • A criteria was developed for the evaluation of projects
