Institute of Educational Assessors • Launched May 2006; Chartered status July 2007 • Independent Members’ organisation with Associates, Members, Fellows – and soon, Chartered Assessors • Core mission: to support individuals to develop their knowledge, skills and capability in good assessment practice in order to raise standards of assessment and give voice and status to assessors • Professional Framework • Forging partnerships to deliver support to those responsible for assessments in and out of the learning environment

  6. What’s happening in assessment? 2008 will bring some big challenges • New GCSE and A level specifications • Education reform - new Diplomas • New marking agency – ETS • Single Level Tests (Making Good Progress)

AAIA and the Institute of Educational Assessors - To keep up to speed teachers in every learning environment need access to information, resources and knowledge on good assessment practice. • AAIA and the Institute of Educational Assessors can keep teachers informed of new developments and their implications for learners and centres. • AAIA and IEA can provide support to those involved in assessment and change public attitudes • Chartered Assessors?
