  2. Topography in Ancient Greece-One of the most important sources for the topography of Athens (in particular) and Greek archaeology (in general) is an eye-witness account written by the traveler Pausanias in the 2nd century A.D.  Pausanias spent several years traveling throughout Greece and he recorded many fascinating details about the famous cities, temples, and monuments -- which were already considered ancient even in his own day.  Athens was one of the first places he visited on his journey and his description of the city provides us with some invaluable clues about the location, form, decoration, function, and historical significance of many prominent monuments. Investigate the geography of the chosen society • Topography-the study of Earth's surface features • Rivers/Lakes/Oceans • Climate

  3. One of the main creations of ancient Greece would have to be the invention of temples and how the people of ancient Greece used them to demonstrate caring and affection towards their Gods and higher powers. Many temples were made and this was due to the invention of cement by the Greeks which made this easier to create. Geography and topography helped in the makings of these various temples because it helped the Greeks know what to use, where to build, to what extent to make these hold throughout the elements etc.The most efficient transportation in Ancient Greece was by boat. Athens is not far from the sea. However, there was also overland transportation by wagon. Athens is still several miles from the sea. Much of Greece is inland. Since farms in Ancient Greece produced very little excess, very little transportation occurred over long distances inland. Geography helped in the making of new transportation such as wagons, chariots and going by boat. Geography and topography helped with this for the Greeks to know how sturdy and what components the methods of transport would be facing. Analyze the creation of different modes of transportation and discuss how the geography may have played a role in the type of transportation that they created. On the Sea:-Sailing Ship-Oared and beaked galleyOn Land:-Chariot bigga or quadrigga.-Two wheeled mule cart-Sedan chair

  4. Investigate motives for trade, approaches to trade, and trading patterns of your society. Once that is done, tell me how their trade had an effect on the economy and prosperity of that society. Greek goods were traded such as: pottery, bronze, silver and gold vessels, olive oil, wine, and textiles etc. These were exchanged for luxury items and exotic raw materials that were in turn worked by Greek craftsmen. The Greeks established many trading enclaves. The Greek’s trade had a huge affect on the economies because due to their various new encounters with things they have never used, had, or even seen before it let to new discoveries and inventions among others. Long-distance trade was primarily done by merchant ships over the waters of the Aegean, Mediterranean, and Black Seas. Approaches for trade were to resolve conflicts- peace treaty wise. Other forms of approaching to tading was that people would have to get more stock of certain things by stealing or other, instead agreements were made once new places were found.

  5. Compare the prosperity of your society with another chosen society. Then conclude reasons for similarities and differences between the two societies. As a conclusion these two societies have different resources for their wealth and different matters of wealth. This means that each has enough to support and more than enough for leisure, as these may not be the same it represents what things/items are more important to what societies.

  6. Assess the importance of trade relations and transportation systems for prosperity in your society. Then tell explain to me why trade is still important in Canada. • Include: • Canada’s trading partners • Items we trade away and items we trade for • Transportation we use
