  2. Causes • It occurs when your blood does not have enough red blood cells. • Bleeding causes these cells to be lost more quickly than they can be replaced.

  3. Symptoms • Fatigue • Pale skin • A fast or irregular heartbeat • Shortness of breath • Chest pain • Dizziness • Cognitive problems • Cold hands and feet • Headache

  4. Prevention • Many types of anemia cannot be prevented. • You can prevent iron deficiency anemia and vitamin deficiency by having a diet that has variety and nutrients.

  5. Treatment • Anemia treatment depends on the cause. • Iron deficiency- changes in diet and vitamins • Anemia of a chronic disease- no specific treatment • Sickle cell anemia- treatment of oxygen, pain-relieving drugs, etc.

  6. Cure • There is no cure for anemia, only prevention and treatment can be used to help.
