  1. Year 2 Sleepover Aims: To develop children's independence To give children new opportunities for social interaction outside the classroom To prepare them for future residential visits (Y4, Y6) To provide a memorable and exciting way to end KS1

  2. Schedule of activities - Wednesday • Arrive at school as usual – uniform top, comfortable bottoms/shoes (8:40) • Bags to Y2, medicines to the office, any questions / concerns to Mrs Lewis. Introduction for the children and travel to Calshot. • Breaktime & fruit on the beach (10:00) • Visit Calshot Castle and activity centre (to observe only!) • Travel to Lyndhurst for Picnic Lunch (12:30) • Afternoon activities Reptile Centre, woodland walk around the enclosure. • Return to school - drink and fruit snack (4:00) • Pizza / Filled roll making (ready for dinner) • Postcards home / craft activities • Dinner (6:30) • Story telling/circle games • DVD, hot chocolate & biscuit • Bed time (approx 8:30)

  3. Schedule of activities - Thursday • Lights up - approx. 7:30 • Breakfast (8:00) • Den Building • Break time & fruit as usual (10:30) • Den Building • Lunch with school as usual (12:00) • Gardening / art / free time • (afternoon nap if necessary) • Home as usual (3:15)

  4. Adult supervision • Normal trip ratios during the day • At least 4 staff members will be present overnight including a first aider. • Staff members will be "on duty" and available to the children at any time during the night.

  5. Meals • Lunches will be provided free of charge as detailed on HC3S Menu (Chicken Sandwiches on Wednesday, full choice on Thursday). You can provide packed lunches if preferred. • Fruit will be available throughout the day. • Wednesday's evening meal will be pizza, prepared by children with their choice of toppings. “Ice cream factory” for pudding. They may choose to fill a roll as an alternative to pizza. • Hot chocolate and a biscuit before bed • Breakfast on Thursday will be a choice of cereals, toast and jam / marmite / cheese spread.

  6. Kit list • Sleeping bag and pillow (beds are provided) • Wash kit (toothpaste/brush, soap, flannel, small towel) • Nightwear • A complete change of clothes (casual) for Thursday • School t-shirt/jumper for Wednesday’s trip • Waterproof coat • Suitable footwear for walking • One special toy (e.g. teddy) • Medication (to the office) • No cameras, phones, electronics

  7. Communication • In the unlikely event of an emergency we will contact you in the first instance on the number provided. • We will be available to contact on the school telephone number. • Please let us know of any issues beforehand so we can deal with them sensitively. Children can change in privacy and we have a shower they can use if necessary. • Non sleepers can be collected at 8:30 and join us for breakfast at 7:30.
