  1. Same Sex Marriage Parenting Under a Homosexual Home Should Homosexuals be allowed to adopt ??????????????????????????????????

  2. Media Chosen • Magazines • Online Magazines • Online Newspapers

  3. Parenting Under a Homosexual Home • There are a lot of cases were children born from heterosexual relationships, end up being raised by their divorced or separated parents, who then get involved in a stable homosexual relationship. These children are raised without any major problems and become normal members of society. • Given this fact, then why can’t homosexuals adopt children !?!?!?

  4. Is this matter a social construction or essentialism?

  5. According to: Smith & Windes in Appeals in Progay and Traditionalist Discourses • Traditionalists (anti-gays): consider gays “sinful”, “immoral”, “criminal”, “mentally disturbed”, “pathogenic”, “corruptive of young”, “socially disruptive”, basically a lot of religion and Bible interpretation comes into play for their arguments. • Pro-gays: think the complete opposite from the traditionalists and consider that the Bible doesn’t create hostility to homosexuals, instead people who utilize it to sustain a discarded law code.

  6. According to: Rubin in Notes for a Radical Theory of the Politics of Sexuality • Oppression of differing sexualities from the norm is the “new” racism. • The oppressors gain power by eliminating common rights, making them inapplicable to the oppressed. Best Example: is homosexual marriage and rights to adopt. • This has forced many homosexuals to go to some places where they are allowed these rights; in the US some states have become a type of refugee camp for homosexuals, like San Francisco.

  7. According to: Feeny & Noller in Attachment and Sexuality in close Relationships • The article concluded that attachment and sexuality is quite robust. It studied sexuality in the relational context using both hetero- and homosexual samples • Both showed the same tendencies like avoidance endorsed more casual sex, more non-intimate partners, while on the other hand, secure attachment linked sexual confidence, mutual sexual enjoyment and fidelity • This states there is no difference between heterosexuals or homosexuals on their relationships.

  8. According to: Fitzpatrick et al in Gay and Lesbian Couple Relationships • The study concluded by observing and categorizing homosexuals within heterosexual categories like Traditional, Independent, or Separate couples and found it was unnecessary to create new categories for homosexuals. It also found that the sample they had; homosexuals preferred the traditional type of relationship • It particularly pointed out that discrimination was present in “family” rights. (examples: hospital visitation, adoption, and employment benefits)

  9. According to: Fred Fejes & Kevin Petrich in Invisibility, Homophobia and Heterosexism: Lesbians, Gays and the media. • Sexual orientation is fixed at a very early age as a homosexual growing up in an atmosphere with little or no information or role models, they search for clues to understand their feelings and sense of difference through their interpersonal and media environment.

  10. Media in Puerto Rico • El Nuevo Dia: Marchan a Fortaleza opositores del matrimonio gay • RT: Hundreds of thousands march in Puerto Rico against gay rights • Caribbean Business: Hundreds march against same-sex marriage. • This news made headlines in the whole island, religious groups in the protest were defending the “traditional” family structure and showing their position against homosexual marriage

  11. Magazines for parenting • Gay Parent (LGBT Magazine): is a normal parenting magazine with the exception that its main public is homosexual couples raising children. • Parenting : Meet the Same-Sex Parents Next Door http://www.parenting.com/article/same-sex-parenting

  12. The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry published an article titled: “Niños con Padres Lesbianas, Homosexuales, Bisexuales y Transgeneros No. 92”. • This article stated that children from homosexual parents will be exactly like heterosexual parents and will have the same chances of the children being gay or not.

  13. Is this matter a social construction or essentialism?
