  1. Environmental issues BY: Ela 5c

  2. What: this is a dirty river in Imam Bonjol. Why: People throw rubbish everywhere. Who: the people who passes usually throw the rubbish there and also the residents. Where: this place is located in Imam Bonjol in Surabaya, Imam Bonjol is located near Jl. Kartini When: I think people start doing this when they are lazy to throw their rubbish and ‘Waste’ in the right place. How: we can fix this problem by, reminding each other to throw the rubbish in the right place.

  3. What: There are so many plastic bags which takes million years degrade. Why; people are not using bags that are reusable, they used plastic bags. Plastic bags are not so strong materials so if we put something heavy it will make a hole and then we cant use it again. Who: Well actually most people use plastic bags everywhere. Where: pandegiling is located near to imam bonjol. When: people use plastic bags usually when they go to the traditional market, usually the shops in the mall has bio degradable bags but I don’t think they really that mush go to the mall because I can see from the quality of the houses are not so good. How: we can actually help this problem by using bio degradable bags/ tote bags/ shopping bags (anything that is reusable) everywhere we go.

  4. What: Rubbish everywhere in the river of Petemon kali. Why: I think people throw rubbish here because they think it is okay to throw rubbish to the river but actually the fishes can die, it also flows to the sea. So the sea animals can also die eating the rubbish and they will be Poisoned and some of them are already endangered. Who: people who lived by the river throw it inside the river, sometimes if people pass they throw the rubbish on the street since they usually throw food wrappers and plastic bags the wind could easily blow the rubbish in the river. So they ‘re also guilty. Where: Petemon Kali is near Jl. Tidar and Jl. Bromo, in the TP area. When: after eating food that has wrappers they throw it in the river or the street then the wind blows it to the river. How: we can help solving this problem by throwing rubbish in the right place.

  5. What: This is a flood in Jakarta area. Why: the flood happens mostly because people threw rubbish everywhere so it covers the drain and when the rain comes the water cant go into the drain because it’s blocked Who: people who eats things with plastic wrappers and passes this area usually do this because maybe they don’t want their vehicle to be dirty Where: this flood is located in Jakarta area When: when people eat plastic wrapped things and they are to lazy to throw the rubbish or they don’t want their vehicle to be dirty. How: we can help this issue by placing small rubbish bin in our car. We can also start by throwing rubbish the right place.

  6. What: The road is full cars and motorcycles and pollution filled the air. Why: because families used separate vehicles to go to the same destination Who: people who lived near BasukiRahmat or people who lived in surabaya area does this. Where: this environmental issue is spotted near BasukiRahmat road in the Surabaya area When: when families are going somewhere in separate vehicles this happens How: we can easily solve this issue by, reminding our parents to use 1 car to go somewhere.

  7. What: extreme windy weather in Sidoarjo area blew off a palm tree and hits utility poles. Causing a massive damage Why: usually extreme weather happens because of human activities that cause Global warming, example green houses, riding too much vehicles, ect. Who: actually everyone in the world does this it effects to the temperature of the Sun. Where: this case is spotted in Sidoarjo area. When: this happens when people do things that hurts/ harms the environment. How: we can solve this problem by taking small actions. Maybe we can start by not using plastic bags or riding bicycle to near places or maybe sharing vehicle.

  8. What: people are using trees as recreational (outbond) places. Why: they do it because it doesn’thurt the environment and people canstil have fun with nature aroundthem Who: everyone can have fun with this area starting from kids to adults. Where: this outbond location is in treetop in tretes area. When: people come here when they’re having holidays with family. How: it helps save the environment by using nature to entertain people.

  9. What: A supermarket called super Indo in Citraland area, is having a program to save the environment, by asking customers to use reusable bags and get special offers. Why: they do it so people can take action for the environment but they also get money for selling their reusable bag. Who: everyone can shop using reusable bag to help save the environment. Where: This supermarket is located in Citraland, near Bukit Golf area, it is close to our school too! When: How: By having ‘Cash Back’ for reusable bag/ shopping bag/ canvas bag

  10. What: ‘Lumpur Lapindo’ is happening. It is some sort of hot bubbling mud that could kill any living things it just keep coming out from the bottom of the earth Why: this happens because people are drilling oil from the ground. Who: a factory in the ‘Porong’ area drill the ground to look for natural resource. Where: this issue is located in Porong. When: this started to happen since 200 How: we can help by not wasting natural resource for everyday needs . doesn’t mean we cant use them we just need to use it more wisely so people don’t dig up more.

  11. What: The trees are falling over in Jakpus (Jakarta Pusat) Why: it is because of extreme windy weather. Extreme windy weather is usually caused by Climate change and Global warming it is because of human’s activities, like what I say before people nowdays are building green houses, lots of glass in buildings, mirror house and many more. Who: all people around the world actually cause this happening including us! Where: this is located in Jakpus ( Jakarta pusat) When: This happens on Thursday 10th Jan 2013 How: we can help by doing simple actions like using reusable bags to the market, using less vehicles and ect.

  12. From this activity I learnt that most environmental issues are caused by us, humans. So we could help save our home by doing small actions. My Conclusion From This Activity
