  1. Marble & Granite Is Now the Leading Manufacturer of Stone Worktops in London The company Marble & Granite Ltd began life in Hertford in 2006 and has since grown to become the leading manufacturer and supplier of stone worktops in London and the Home Counties. Indeed, the company outgrew its’ Hertford premises and was forced to move a few miles down the road to Hatfield in order to serve its’ ever-increasing number of customers. Although the company name is Marble & Granite, it supplies limestone, quartzite, engineered quartz, slate, and sintered stone worktops in addition. Sintered stone is a relatively new product and is made by a process called sinterization which takes 100% natural minerals and oxides and subjects them to extreme pressure and heat. This produces a stone which is very resistant to scratching and is virtually impervious to water and other liquids. Thus, it won’t stain if beetroot juice, red wine, lemon juice, ammonia, or bleach is spilled on it, as would happen with marble if it is not wiped off quickly. Sintered stone is also resistant to very high temperatures, and to sunlight, so UV rays won’t affect the colours in any way. It does not give off any harmful

  2. substances, so you can put food directly on to it without worry, and it has no effect on the environment. In addition, just over 50% of sintered stone is made from materials that have been recycled, so it is environmentally friendly from that point of view too. It can even be recycled again at end of life. Marble & Granite supplies sintered stone worktops under the Laminam, Dekton, Lapitec, and Neolith brands. Engineered quartz stone is another material and consists of 93% quartz along with polymer resins and pigments. The resultant material is ideal for worktops, as quartz is one of the hardest materials on earth. It is heat and cold resistant, and highly resistant to scratches and stains. The surface of engineered quartz has no need of sealing or any other treatment that other stones such as marble and limestone do. All they ever need is a wipe over with detergent and a cloth. Of course, many of the customers of Marble & Granite do love marble itself because of the amazing different variations in veining and patterns. Marble has an elegance about it that other stones do not. It does need more care than some surfaces but will still last for very many years given some TLC. About The Company: Marble & Granite is a Hatfield-based manufacturer of stone worktops and can supply them in a variety of different natural and man-made stones.
