About Pacific University • Pacific University Oregon (Ory-gun) – Founded in 1849 for Oregon Trail Orphans – Small, private university with campuses in Forest Grove, Hillsboro and Eugene, Oregon – 4 Colleges; Arts & Sciences, Optometry, Education, Health Professions – 3,200 FTE, Undergraduate & Professional, split 50/50 – Colleague since 1993, ODS 2008, Recruiter 2011. – Mascot is Boxer, a Chinese qilin(dog-dragon)

Process Workflow • Student logs on to WA (BoxerOnline) • Clicks through to TOD with Credentials • Place Order (consent, recipients, payment) • Pull New Orders to PDF • Send PDF to Business Office – Holds? • Approve or Hold Order @ e-SCRIPT-SAFE • Pull Approved Orders & Print • e-SCRIPT-SAFE produces Transcript • Recipient Notified & Retrieves Transcript

  6. Transcript Format • Hardest Part – 4 Groupings, each with a subroutine call. Which one is last? • Label or Fixed Position ID # • Print End of Transcript Marker (EOT) • Order Number entered in Address Modifier • Order # in EOT Marker • Major re-work of Format Rejected as Scoop Creep (future project)

WA  TOD Authentication • Never Been Done Before • Dave Morelli did B&N w/o spec so I asked him to try – 40 hours w/ mini-spec • Teresa Jackson made generic version w/ dummy School ID and Secret Code • Daylight Saving Times and IE/FF issues • Project delays mean we were probably not first into production

Security • Students after 1998 had WA credentials , non-alums were inactive • Students after 1993 Had Disabled Network ID & no WA credentials. • BoxerOnline 4 Ever project set up ~3k students in WA (DMIS), others re-enabled • Refer Inactive Students to Help Desk to activate network account • Side Benefits – 1098Ts, WA Access • Using MD5 Encryption • Students prior to 1993 must create TOD account

  9. SCRIPT-SAFE • Very secure, backups are aged & deleted • Technicians & Support Staff - Very Good • Delivery: Email links to 3rd Party or Student, Mailed Hardcopy, Expedited • Pacific Charges a Flat Fee per Transcript, e-SCRIPT-SAFE adds their charge + S/H
