Timeline of Events • September 10-11 KSDE Monitoring Visit from USDE • Friday, September 20 Conference Call with USDE on Waiver Status • September 30, 2013 submission of Two additional Waiver Options • Double Testing on Spring 2014 Assessments • Use of Student Growth results on Educator Evaluations in 2016-17.

Monitoring Visit Sept. 10-11 • Purpose was to monitor implementation of Principals 1, 2 and 3. • Principal 1 • College and Career Ready Standards and Assessments • 3rd full year of implementing new CCR Standards • 2013-14 Transitional Assessment • Principal 2 • Accountability System (4 AMO’s) and Support (KLN) • 2013 will be the first look at the 4 AMO’s, replacing AYP • 2013-14 is the 2nd year of Priority and Focus Schools in KLN • Principal 3 • Teacher/Leader Evaluations • 286 School districts are piloting new Evaluation Instruments in 2013-14

  4. ESEA Waiver Extension Initial State ESEA Waivers were approved through the 2013-14 school year. States may request extensions for another 2 years, good through 2015-16. In the event Congress reauthorizes ESEA during that time, states will transition to the new law. States have until December 15, 2013 to submit a letter of intent to extend their waiver. Waiver extensions can be submitted in January/February 2014.
