  2. Marriage (婚姻) • HERA (HEE-ruh; Roman name Juno) was the goddess of marriage.

  3. Queen皇后 • Hera was the wife of Zeus and Queen of the Olympians.

  4. wife (妻子) • Hera is the beautiful and powerful wife (and sister) of Zeus.

  5. Immortals (不死者) • She is the most beautiful of the immortals, even more beautiful than the goddess of Love, Aphrodite.

  6. ware (裝飾品) • Her beauty is renewed each spring as she magically washes away the ware and worry of her immortal existence.

  7. hate (恨) • Hera hated the great hero Heracles since he was the son of her husband Zeus and a mortal woman.

  8. crib (搖籃) • When he was still an infant, she sent snakes to attack him in his crib.

  9. revenge (報復) • The story of Zeus and Io is the sad story of infidelity and revenge.

  10. heifer(母牛) • Zeus changed his beautiful lover, Io, into a black and white heifer to hide her from Hera.

  11. ruse(詭計) • Hera saw through the ruse and sent Argos Panoptes (all seeing) to keep watch on Io and keep Zeus away.

  12. lyre(豎琴) • Hermes at the command of Zeus, played his lyre and closed all eyes of Argos and then killed him.

  13. Prod(刺,戳) • Hera sent a gadfly(牛虻) to torment and constantly prod the poor heifer-maiden so that she might never rest or find comfort.

  14. Egypt(埃及) • Finally, Io was driven to the ends of the earth (i.e. Egypt) where she found peace.

  15. peacock(孔雀) • The eyes of Argos can still be seen in the tail of the peacock.
