    2. Schedule of Presentations

    3. Drivers for an Accredited CPD Framework Maturing of the industry leading to professionalisation Government skills agenda more aligned to business performance and innovation General decline in attendance at non-accredited courses Proliferation of similar courses with little measurement of quality/impact Increase in Events Management graduates thus making market more competitive Little to no recognition of CPD activity outside of respective associations No recognised career path for new graduates or people in the industry

    4. Challenges in Delivering a Fit for Purpose CPD Framework It needs to be simple, transparent , accessible and work based Simple in terms of the industry understanding how it works and how it is relevant to both the individual and organisation Transparent in terms of being an autonomous body that recognises a range of courses from a range of providers e.g. FE, HE establishments, individuals, associations and private providers Accessible in terms of cost, mode and length of study Work-Based in that learning opportunities are not contrived for study purposes but arise from normal work and learning tasks and work tasks are complementary with assessment fit for academic and professional purposes

    6. Short Term Solution- CPD Portal There are several open source portals that could be adapted to meet a short term need thus: Communicating the CPD message Acting as a PR point of contact for proactive and reactive comment on relevant topics Enabling individuals to electronically record CPD activity Acting as a gateway to other industry associations Providing information about the size and scope of the events market, along with links to research papers Highlighting links to education providers and other associations Highlighting links to commercial support services, such as Events Review/Meetings Review Providing a list of approved event trainers and Speakers
