  4. We will become more forgiving. • Forgiven of a debt we could not pay • Luke 11:4 “…forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.” • God enables us to forgive because we have been forgiven. • Matthew 18:21-25 – The unforgiving servant

We will become more Forbearing • Greek:anecho = to bear with, endure • Dictionary.com = tobe patient or self-controlled whensubject to annoyance or provocation. • Who is the easiest person to forgive? • Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times”.

  6. Ephesians 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

  7. Forgiveness = Freedom • Two choices • Hold a grudge • Forgive. • Holding a grudge has a penalty • Anger • Resentment • Bitterness • Only one cure - forgiveness • Corrie Ten Boom “Forgiveness is to set a prisoner free, and to realize the prisoner was you”

We will experience Joy! • Luke 9:24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. • Matthew 10:39, Matthew 16:25, Mark 8:35, Luke 17:33, John 12:25 • Hebrews 1:9 / Psalm 45:7 - You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”

We Will Honor God With Our Money. • Our spiritual maturity will be reflected in how we handle money. • Luke 16:10-15 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?“No servant can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is detestable in God’s sight.

  11. Free from the love of money • I Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

  12. Tithing – it’s a start… • 10% - basic standard • Predates the Law of Moses • Genesis 14:18-20 – Melchizedek was a type of Christ. • It all belongs to God anyway • Faith

A Promise, A Vow and Testing • Genesis 28:20 - Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear • Matthew 4:7 / Deuteronomy 6:16 • Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.

Fullness in the body of Christ • Ephesians 1:22-23 (NIV) And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. • The church is not a building • Ecclesia = Church • I Corinthians 12:12-27 • Christ is the head, we are the body

Homework Challenge: • List your 5 greatest strengths • List 3 areas you think are your weaknesses • Find Scripture that applies to all 8 items • Pray those 8 Scriptures daily • Ask God to give you opportunities to help those who are weak where you are strong. • Ask God to bring 3 people into your life whose strength is the area you feel weak in.
