  1. FUNDRAISING: The following is a 10-minute presentation aboutthe work of The Integral Heart Foundation in Guatemala Guatemala is a republic. The primary language is Spanish and twenty-one Mayan dialects are spoken. The country is about the size of the State of Virginia, and a little bigger than Ireland. Guatemala is the next country south of Mexico and with a population of 14 million people, it is the second most densely populated country in Central America. 43% of children under five are malnourished. This is one of the highest malnutrition rates in the world. More than half of the population is below the national poverty line and 15% live in extreme poverty (on less than $1 per day) The number of homes without light is about 500,000. SOLAR LIGHT UNIT In the Guatemalan highlands ,where we work, the sun sets at about 6pm Imagine 12 hours of darkness everyday - This unit provides 5 hours of light on 2 bulbs (5W LED) on a single charge, even in the rainy season! -  The cost of the unit is the same as what a family of 6 living in two rooms is currently spending on candles in one year.-  Designed by a Harvard graduate and his partner, both from Guatemala.-  Easy to install and maintain.
