  2. People are much more concerned about their health and diet today. As part of that, more people are inclined to add rice to their diet. Rice cookers are great for providing quality cooked rice and reducing the cooking burden on busy people. But before rushing out and buying a rice cooker, it is important to know what kind of rice cooker you should buy. Some parameters include the size of rice cooker, features, coating, as well as the brand. The simple on/off cookers: These are inexpensive and easy to use. You simply add rice and water and plug them in. Then after rice is cooked, they will keep the rice warm until served.

  3. Coating: Some rice cookers come with non-stick coating that are clearly easier to clean. You might consider buying one, but need to balance it against health concerns of some for non-stick coatings. Lid: Some rice cookers come with clear glass lid. This is handy for not having to lift the lid which could cause the steam to escape. Long Lasting: Clearly, cookers come in different qualities and prices. There are some high-end ones. So you have to think about how much you use your appliance. If low- duty then perhaps you do not need to invest in an expensive product.

  4. Timer: Having a timer is an important feature. You should invest in a product that has a timer. This should not cost a lot more. Fuzzy Logic: Fuzzy logic senses the amount of rice and water and adjusts the temperature. Do you cook frequently. If so, you may want to invest in this feature. Cooking Variety: If you are like us, you may be moving to more healthy rice, e.g. brown rice or wild rice. Is your product suitable for cooking different rice types? Reviews: Read the product reviews on popular sites before investing in one. Warranty: That goes for pretty much any consumer product. Steam Tray: If a steam tray is provided, then you can cook vegetables in your product.

  5. Number of Cups, Capacity: How much capacity do you or your family need? You should consider getting a cooker a bit larger than what you need, as it would still be able to cook the lesser amount. As an individual or a couple, you can go for a 3-cup rice cooker. If you have more people in your household or you have frequent parties, then investigate larger cookers. I personally find there are some cases that I wished I had a larger cooker, of course that has to be balanced against extra cost as well as the energy waste due to a cooker not being full.
