  1. SOME THINGS WE CAN

  2. WE CAN SATAN'S SNARE

  3. Escaping Satan’s Snare • “in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will” (2 Tim. 2:25, 26, NKJV)

  4. WE CAN SIN IN TEMPTATION

  5. Triumph Over Temptation • “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it” (1 Cor. 10:13, NKJV) • being tempted is not sinful • being overcome by temptation is • God provides a way out

  6. Triumph Over Temptation “And I find more bitter than death The woman whose heart is snares and nets, Whose hands are fetters. He who pleases God shall escape from her, But the sinner shall be trapped by her” (Eccl. 7:26, NKJV)

  7. WE CAN HELL

  8. God wanted Lot to Escape Sodom • “So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, ‘Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed’ ” (Gen. 19:17, NKJV) • Jude 7

  9. Jesus wants us to escape Hell • Matthew 5:28-30, “But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell” (NKJV)

  10. Mark 7:21, 22 • “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness” (NKJV) • “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life” (Prov. 4:23)

  11. Colossians 3:5 • “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry” (NKJV) • members put to death to work sin • members remain to work good • “Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need” (Eph. 4:28, NKJV; cf. Rom. 6:13)

  12. WHY ESCAPE HELL? • because hell hurts (Rev. 14:11) • because hell doesn’t end (cf. Mark 9:42-50) • “worm does not die” – a body that is always being consumed but never consumed • not annihilation! • because hell is away from God • “These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power” (2 Thess. 1:9, NKJV)

  13. Escaping Hell? • The hypocrite will NOT • “And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?” (Rom. 2:3, NKJV) • The liar & false witness will not escape • “A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who speaks lies will not escape” (Prov. 19:5, NKJV)

  14. Escaping Hell? • Those who neglect salvation will NOT • “how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him” (Heb. 2:3, NKJV)

  15. Escaping Hell? • Those who refuse to hear God will NOT • “See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking. For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven” (Heb. 12:25, NASB 95)

  16. Will you hear Him? • “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom. 10:17) • “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels” (Lk. 9:26; 12:8) • “. . . unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Lk. 13:3) • “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mk. 16:16)
