  1. Mainstream/ Subculture Reaction • Rene Magritte's and Mark Tansey were in a subculture of displaying oppositions and contradictions as the motivation for a painting. Mark Tansey was also in a contemporary culture that was characterized by the rejection and global cultural narrative, or a meta- narrative.

  2. Movement They Belonged To • He was in these groups called modernism, postmodernism. They are understood as cultural projects or a set of perspectives. • Postmodernism is used in critical theory to refer to a point of departure for works of literature, drama, cinema, journalism, architecture and design. • Also postmodernism means that it is the “ dominant cultural logic of late capitalism.” • Modernism was concerned with principles such as identity, unity, authority, and certainty.
