  1. Vocational Rehabilitation Services for People with Disabilities Vocational rehabilitation refers to any program that aims to help disabled people regain their highest level of physical, mental, social, occupational, and economic abilities. Vocational rehabilitation services are sometimes provided as a workers' compensation benefit to help employees who have suffered physical or mental impairment and can no longer perform their previous jobs. The majority of vocational rehabilitation services help injured people get training for new professions, find employment, keep appointments, and establish long-term careers, whether or not they are covered by workers' compensation. Both the public and private sectors offer vocational rehabilitation. With comparable eligibility requirements, rules, and services, each state has its vocational rehabilitation services that are jointly sponsored by the federal government and the state. Generally speaking, participation is open to anyone with a disability who needs employment assistance. Veterans who have become handicapped or disabled due to military service are also eligible for similar benefits through state veterans' offices. Numerous private companies and institutions also provide services for vocational rehabilitation. These non-public suppliers range from insurance companies to nonprofit organizations. The provision of services includes several steps, including diagnosis, writing a customized vocational rehabilitation program, counseling and guidance, physical and mental healing, job placement, training, and post-employment support. Although many patients seeking vocational rehabilitation services self-refer, schools, hospitals, welfare organizations, and other agencies or organizations frequently refer patients seeking vocational rehabilitation services to rehabilitation agencies.
