  1. Make a Cape or Cloak for Yourself Raye enjoyed dressing up so much that she pursued a BA in costume and makeup studies before earning an MFA in surface design. Old-fashioned Clothing:- Once humans tired of merely covering oneself in blankets, the earliest types of clothing were capes and cloaks. This was the most basic way to shape woven material into something practical to wear in cold weather at a period when fabric yardage was expensive and labor-intensive and sewing and tailoring had not yet advanced. It requires only a slight amount of shape to hang from the shoulders and remain in position, freeing up the hands from having to hold the garment around your waist Black Cloak Cape for Halloween .Cloaks and capes are frequently relegated to the domain of costume in modern society since the additional cloth is seen as heavy and impeding to really vigorous motions. However, they can still keep you warm and shed rain.own sense of flair and elegance. It's also simpler than you may think to construct one for yourself because the patterns are typically straightforward. Making Your Own Cape:- There are a few choices you need to make regarding your cape or cloak before you begin that will make the job itself much simpler. Costume or actual clothing:- Are you looking to use this as a one-time outfit (try the no-sew option!) or an actual outer layer of clothing to keep you warm and dry? A genuine cloak will require more time and finer materials than a cape for a costume party. Capes can be full-length:- knee-length, or up to the waist in length (to the ankle) It's usually preferable to avoid letting them drag on the ground as this increases the likelihood that they'll get wet, soiled, or trampled. To get a solid notion of what works for you, stroll about the home and pin some cloth. Make sure to practise things like walking inside and outside, up and down stairs, and at least once, using the restroom while wearing your practise cape. Material:- Doing a cape for a character? Or is this a reenactment of history for the SCA? While historical clothing is usually always made of heavy wool or brocade that will truly repel rain and keep you warm, costume capes are typically made of satin, cotton, or velvet. If the cape will be worn anywhere near a fire, choose a natural fabric instead of a synthetic one since embers won't melt holes in it and natural fabrics are considerably more fire resistant. Make sure the cloth is thicker if you don't want the cape to flap behind you and hang down straighter more easily. Black Hooded Cloak Cape for Halloween Select a material that is lighter in weight, such as silk, if you want the cape to flow and flap. Don't forget to glance at the Decide if you want the interior of your cloak to look like the "wrong" side of the cloth. If not, you should choose a material to line it with. Details about the clothing:- Do you want a hood on your cloak? perhaps simply a stand-up collar will do? Will the cloak attach with a brooch, buttons, or a tie at the neck? Do you want any inner or outside pockets on your cape? Perhaps there is a hidden pocket inside? The more aspects you can consider and decide before you begin creating your cloak, the better
